LBJS BOOK AWARENESS DAY 2016
This year, special guest authors have been invited to read their interesting books to our lovely children.
The Special Guest of Honour, Mrs.Nomthi Odukoya, is the author of “A Bully Is Not a Hero”, “40 Real Life Lessons”, “No! Don’t touch me there!” and “Help! They Are Fighting Again”. Her story books for children empower children to confront any form of abuse, teaching them about the basic morals and values to help build a solid foundation. Her books also develop Literacy and imaginative skills of young Nigerian children. Nomthi Odukoya is an educationist, life coach and writer who is passionate about building wholesome and integrated family life with a focus on raising Godly and socially responsible children. All students and parents will benefit from this remarkable session with her.
Another guest writer, Mrs. Chinonye Oluoha, is the author of “Basic Life Principles”. She is a strong voice in instilling core positive values in children and her book centres around values for raising virtuous children. She will be having a general session with all the parents and our students.
Yet another author of great interest is a child author, Master Samuel Adeoluwa Sogunle who graced us with his presence during our Book Awareness Days last year. He has written three books for children: “Life in the Big City” at age 7, “Unstoppable Unity” at 10 years and “E - magnet” at age 12. At 15 years, he is an author of three published books. He is currently a student at one of the International Secondary Schools in Nigeria. Master Sogunle will be reading his books to our students and inspiring/motivating them to write and publish books of their own at an early age.
Another interesting event is a Talk show/Round table discussion between our LBJS students and an invited school titled - Using Fairy Tales to Debate Ethics, Jack and The Beanstalk, Is taking a goose and Harp from an evil giant stealing -
Prominent/specialist opticians from Visions Opticals, Palms Shopping Mall, Lagos will be available to offer eye tests to interested children. Kindly fill out the eye test consent form, attached herewith, to indicate interest.
Fresh carrot cake will be available for tasting and fresh carrot juice will be prepared on site and available.
The children are expected to come dressed as their favourite book character during the Character Costume Day which will take place on Friday, 12th of February 2016. There will be a fashion parade of costumes and each child will be required to talk about the book character that he/she is dressed as.
The Cinema Show for the children will hold on Friday, February 12, 2016 between 10:00am – 12noon. Attached herewith is the movie selection form. Kindly select one movie of interest for your child to watch and return the form by Monday, February 8, 2016.
Additionally, there will be book vendors available for the annual Book Fair and each child will have their own wish list of books, supervised by the class teacher. You may wish to give your children the amount of money on the Wish List (in a sealed envelope and addressed to the class teacher) for books and stationery purchase.
Parents are invited as readers in their children’s classrooms between 1.00pm - 2.00pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Interested parents should please fill out the attached form and return to the school office to enable us plan reading time slots adequately and on time.
All parents are invited to be a part of all the events during the Book Awareness Days which run from 9:00am to 12noon daily. Attached is the program of events for the week.
